Natalie Giroux is Vice President of Intellectual Property & Technology at Stratford Managers Corporation. With her distinguished career demonstrating innovative technical leadership and business acumen in the high-technology sector, Natalie leads the Intellectual Property and Traffic Engineering Practices at Stratford.
Profile
Natalie has had extensive experience in the areas of performance engineering, traffic management, technical due diligence and intellectual property. Throughout her career she has combined deep technical knowledge with business insight and leadership skills to serve as a technical leader in a variety of leading-edge start-up and large companies.
Prior to joining Stratford, Natalie founded Enabling Ideas, an executive consultancy specializing in intellectual property strategy, traffic management design, network engineering and start-up fundraising.
From 2006 to 2009, Natalie served as Chief Scientist for Gridpoint Systems. She designed innovative algorithms for Carrier-Ethernet, mobile backhaul and Packet Optical Transport applications. She also developed technical marketing material, such as white papers and reference guides. Natalie’s responsibilities also included the definition and execution of the company’s intellectual property strategy.
As Partner at Skypoint Capital, from 2001 to 2006, Natalie evaluated, recommended and executed investment opportunities. She also acted as director on certain portfolio company boards. Levering her specialized expertise, Natalie provided support to the portfolio companies in the development of effective intellectual property strategies, reviewed patent filings, provided advice during patent litigation and provided technical assistance in the areas of traffic management, quality of service and network design.
From 1997 to 2001, Natalie held various senior management positions with Newbridge Networks and Alcatel, culminating in her role as AVP Architecture and Technology. In this postition, she assessed different technologies used by the Carrier Internetworking Division (CID), evaluated the technologies of start-up companies and managed research teams in different areas of technology. During this period Natalie also provided vision and leadership to efficiently grow Newbridge’s patent portfolio to be used in licensing negotiations.
Natalie began her career as a member of scientific staff with Bell Northern Research.
Natalie holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Computer Science from Universite Laval, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Universite Laval. She has successfully completed the infringement, validity and office action 1999 examinations to qualify as Canadian Patent Agent and is holding the credits for completion of the degree.
